Linux Buyer's Guide #10
The Duke of URL has just posted its tenth iteration of its Linux Buyer's Guide.
The guide covers 4 systems and a list of peripherals (by popular demand) that work best with Linux. Other sections include the month in review, as well as a little overview of what Linux has in store for the future.
L33tdawg: Well as far as I can tell, I doubt we'd really see the day when Linux would be pushed (and accepted) as the alternative desktop operating system. Let's face facts - Linux is better suited at the server side of the markets, where things like serviing webpages and linking with databases is what produces the best results. Using it as a daily desktop alternative, is only for the few of us, who have the time to learn and tweak. 98% of the computing population are a lot happier to just sit back, click an icon and have it work. Sincerely, I don't blame them for feeling that way... Like I've said before, it all comes down to what works best for the task, and frankly as a desktop OS, Linux isn't quite ready for it and I doubt it will ever be.
