The iPhone Dev Team has released an application to allow people to download unapproved software applications for the iPhone 3G S, without going through the Apple App store. Earlier this week hacker George Hotz made available the first 'jailbreak' for the iPhone 3G S.

He moved away from normal hacker etiquette by making available an application that will enable users to download software onto iPhones even if it is not in the Apple App Store before Apple had a chance to create a fix. Now the iPhone Dev Team has released the redsn0w jailbreak and ultrasn0w carrier unlock tools for the iPhone 3G S.

"Last night we released updated versions of our redsn0w jailbreak and ultrasn0w carrier unlock. These versions are now compatible with the iPhone 3G S running at 3.0. Welcome aboard, 3G S owners."
