iPhone 5 & iPad 2 Jailbreak Name Revealed? Geohot Registers Rubyra1n Domain
iOS 5 isn’t even here yet and we might already be looking at plans to jailbreak the upcoming iOS version and the devices it will power, the iPhone 5, the iPod touch 5G and the iPad 2. Rubyra1n is apparently the name of the next-gen jailbreak tool that’s about to be released at some point in the future by Geohot.
Geohot is the hacker that surprised the world with interesting workarounds Apple’s mobile OS to offer iPhone owners jailbreaking solutions. He then announced he would retire early from the jailbreaking scene, only to arrive later with a new tool, Limera1n, that caused quite a stir this summer in the iOS hackers’ universe. Geohot came out of nowhere with a jailbreak tool a day before the much expected GreenPois0n tool was supposed to be released.
The Chronic Dev Team saved in a last minute effort that SHAtter exploit that was supposed to be used by GreenPois0n and replaced it with Geohot’s Limera1n exploit. Now we find out that Rubyra1n.com has been registered by Geohot, and he didn’t even try to hide it so that’s probably the kind of jailbreak you will be looking for at some point in 2011.
