Intel says hackers attacked its network in January
Intel Corp. was the target of cyber attacks in January, around the same time of the reported cyber attacks on Google Inc., the chip giant said in a regulatory filing.
Intel (INTC 20.40, +0.01, +0.06%) disclosed the incident in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing on Monday in which it listed cyber attacks as among the risk factors facing the semiconductor company.
"These attempts, which might be the result of industrial or other espionage, or actions by hackers seeking to harm the company, its products, or end users, are sometimes successful," Intel said. "One recent and sophisticated incident occurred in January 2010 around the same time as the recently publicized security incident reported by Google," the company said.
