Intel Corp. plans to launch its embedded storage chip, code-named Jasper Forest, in the next several days.
Intel mentioned the impending release as part of its announcement Tuesdaythat it is going to market with its long-awaited high-end Itanium processor, code-named Tukwila.
The Jasper Forest chip, an enhanced version of Intel's Nehalem Xeon chip, which first debuted last April. Jasper Forest is aimed specifically at the data storage and communications market, can be integrated with PCI Express (PCIe) and is able to natively create RAID configurations.
