Intel Pro 100 (Ethernet Card) has changeble or programmable MacID Number

Intel does not advertise per se, but the Intel Pro 100 Ethernet Card (PCI) has a changeable or programmable MacID Number.

Many newer software Serial Numbers or Un-Lock Codes are linked to a specific MacID Number.

The software company sends you a small program that sees if you have an Ethernet Card and that MacID number, this is sent to them and by e-mail they send you a Serial Number or Un-Lock Code for their software that will only work on a computer with that MacID Number.

If you have a USB Ethernet Card, of course you can remove and transfer to another computer and run the sotware, but if you don't and have access to the Software and a Serial Number linked to a specific MacID Number, you can with a couple of mouse clicks change the MacID Number in the Intel Pro 100 Ethernet card to match the Serial/MacID Un-Lock Code for the Software.

The above is the industry trying a new copy protection for their software, but the Intel Pro 100 can workaround this scheme.

The Intel Pro 100 sells from $17 to $28 US Dollars on the internet.

The software is obtain from the Intel Website specific to an Operating System.

L33tdawg: Thanks for the update regarding the Intel card(s), but in the future, it'll be good if you included a source link for readers to follow up on.
