How Not to be an Easy Identity Theft Target
For every new security feature a company designs, a thief discovers a way to get around it. They are like alligators, waiting to see personal information so they can clench it in their jaws and do damage that might not ever be repaired, or in best case, will take weeks, months, and even years to repair.
Some common mistakes that people make all the time make it really easy to become a victim of identity theft. One thing a lot of people do is place personal information online. Hackers or anyone can get access to this information. Credit card numbers, social security numbers, bank account numbers and routing numbers are things that hackers pay very close attention to. Don’t put your personal info online.
Never throw away credit card offers, bills, bank statements, etc without shredding the documents first. All the bad guys need is one piece of trash with your personal information on it and you can say "bye bye" to all you have worked for. A personal shredder for home can be gotten at Best Buy or Circuit City or the like for well under $50.
