Hackers 'snoop on Jimmy Choo head's emails'
Even the presiding genius of the Jimmy Choo empire could, when she heard the claims, have been forgiven for wanting to swap one of her company's elegantly crafted items of footwear in favour of a strategically placed steel-toed boot.
For, it was alleged yesterday, Tamara Mellon - former It Girl and shoe entrepreneur - was spied on by private detectives hired by her estranged husband during their divorce. Matthew Mellon, the American heir to an estimated ?4 billion oil and banking fortune, called in a detective firm with a branch known as Hackers Are Us to snoop on her emails looking for information "he was not getting through the court process", a jury was told.
Matthew and Tamara Mellon, who married at Blenheim Palace in 2000 and rapidly became one of the golden couples of high society, split in 2004. But, as their divorce became increasingly bitter, Mellon thought it "would be a good idea" to hack into his wife's computer, it was claimed.
