Google Voice - A Phone Number Against Your Privacy?

There is that dark spot amongst the nice features Google Voice offers that so many people fail to realize: Google Voice can be a threat to your privacy.

One of the most interesting features that made Google Voice shine when it came out was the voice-to-text transcription of your voice calls. Google keeps a huge database of these transcripts, and these can even be indexed on Google's web searches. That's your personal calls being stored up there. We can't say Google has bad intentions, but these recordings can fall into bad hands. Hackers and marketers breaking into the database being the worst case, a more likely thing to happen is the mandated perusal by secret government services. What is even more likely, if not already the case, is Google using this wealth of information to place targeted ads. This is something already happening in GMail.
