The chief executive officer of a data security firm claims to have developed a virus for mobile phones that will allow hackers to eavesdrop on phone calls and text messages.

Wilfried Hafner, CEO of German firm SecurStar Gmbh, developed the Trojan horse ?solely for demonstration purposes,? according to a company statement?although SecurStar does offer a free download that is supposed to protect phones from this and other Trojans. The virus, dubbed RexSpy, is spread by ?sending an invisible and unnoticeable SMS message? to infect a particular cell phone.
