First iPhone Worm Affects Jailbroken iPhones & iPod Touches

A newly discovered worm is said to affect owners of Jailbroken iPhones and/or iPod Touches who have installed SSH and not changed the default password. The origin of the worm has been traced to Australia, since there is where iPhone users first reported their devices were infected. There’s no reports of iPhone infections in other countries yet.

The way the worm works is quite funny though. It basically changes the iPhone/iPod Touch’s background to an image of 1980s pop crooner Rick Astley with the message: “ikee is never going to give you up.” While this may seem harmless, it’s still considered a crime. Not to mention that this might tempt other hackers to create other more dangerous worms. It is recommended that you change the default SSH password as soon as possible to something more secure.
