Firefox 11 released despite last-minute bug submission

Mozilla has released Firefox 11 despite a last-minute security issue being reported which could have delayed the release.

This is the second Firefox release of 2012 and features a number of developer updates including a WebGL visualisation tool which helps to highlight page structure and style editor which allows for work on style sheets in a text editor like environment.

The “last-minute security bug” was apparently one reported by ZDI and was previously fixed through Mozilla's internal process which meant that no delay was necessary in this week's release. Johnathan Nightingale said: “however in order to understand the impact of Microsoft's Patch Tuesday fixes, we will initially released Firefox for manual updates only. Once those impacts are understood, we will push automatic updates out to all users.”
