The National Infrastructure Protection Center has revealed that an unnamed power company's servers have recently been hijacked by anonymous assailants. The idea that DoSing a power company's Internet connection could prevent them from making bulk power transactions is a fairly scary reality. In the past, power companies have claimed their control systems are not connected to the Internet. While this was a hard pill to swallow back then, it is even more difficult now considering this recent announcement. If nothing else, it certainly brings to light the correlative cause and effect between the Internet connection of a power company and the actual delivery of power.
