Text messaging, picture mail, social network postings, blogging and many more activities contribute to creating personal digital history. Any activities on the internet or via a cell phone are considered one's digital history.

DMC music major Alex Miller's definition of digital history is: "Digital history is more like any kind of media that has been digitalized or photos that have been taken and ended up on the internet." Miller said he is not worried about what his digital history may contain. "I don't have anything to hide," said Miller. "I've received stuff where I was like ‘delete', but I think most people have [received] stuff like that."

Sprint Process Tech Rick Medina said, "I don't think just anybody should be allowed to track people. I think only the government should be allowed to track peoples' digital history for legal reasons." Medina said that hackers try obtaining information from cell phones way too often. Sending out personal information, which can be accessed by unintended people, can lead to sexual harassment or bullying.
