According to a recent Chicago Tribune article, The National Agricultural Statistics Service appears to have left itself open to infiltration. Lax security may prove to significantly endanger the Service's crop forecasts, estimates shrouded in secrecy to avoid millions of dollars worth of insider type trading. Complaints from inside the NASS have spurred on an investigation of the Service's security situation by the General Accounting Office. Among several other security concerns is the agency's reliance on passwords as their predominant security measure.
