The breakdown of one of Swedish operator Telia's main Internet routers in Sweden's capital unplugged more than a million of the country's Internet subscribers for several hours, reports said.
In total over 340,000 broadband and 700,000 dial-up customers across Sweden were affected by the incident, local news agency TT reported.

The router failure might also have caused disruptions to other Internet subscribers who use the services of providers operating on Telia's network, Susanne Sturmhoefel, spokeswoman for the telecom operator, noted.

The problem was discovered when irritated customers started to flood Telia's switchboard with complaints late Saturday morning. Their connections were not restored until mid-afternoon, Telia said.
