Computer Misuse Act: Community Service for Virus
Saw this over at SNN
A British businessman was sentenced to community service after sending his friend and competitor a virus. According to media reports, the man sent the virus as an email attachment with the subject 'Our latest prices are attached, please take a look.' The recipient discovered the virus and promptly notified police, resulting in a raid of the culprit's business. Judge Jeremy Griggs, who had presided over the "Black Baron" SMEG virus case in 1995, considered the act to be a "childish prank" and sentenced the man to 175 hours of community service and confiscated his computer equipment.
