An expert said devices like heart monitors and insulin pumps could easily be used to kill their host, with would-be attackers having greater access to them than ever before, the BBC reports.

Professional hacker Barnaby Jack, who works for computer security company McAfee Inc, was able to hijack a well-known insulin pump by hacking its radio signal within just two weeks.

Mr Jack said this technique could be used to scan a crowd for people fitted with pumps and signal the implant to deliver a lethal dose of insulin. He said the team also discovered a way to over-ride the pump’s safeguard of vibrating when insulin was being delivered. Mr Jack said manufacturers have increased the risk of attacks by adding radio links to insulin implants.
