An axeman who rained blows on an Aberdeen computer expert he suspected had hacked into his PC was behind bars today.
Jobless tradesman John Wilson, was jailed for 30 months yesterday.
Wilson, of the city's King Street, had invited oil analyst John Evans into his home to confront him.
He blamed the expert for planting an electronic virus but was ridiculed by him.
Wilson, 36, then became "like a crazy man", picked up a tomahawk axe from the bedroom floor and attacked Mr Evans from behind, leaving him with a life-threatening skull fracture.
Yesterday the High Court in Edinburgh heard Wilson was a first offender and his actions were out of character.
Earlier this month he appeared at the High Court in Inverness and admitted assaulting Mr Evans to his severe injury and danger to life on January 11.
He had originally been charged with attempted murder but the charge was reduced after he told police: "I think if I had intended to kill him then I would have had the opportunity."
Mr Evans had been a close friend of Wilson's brother and all three were interested in computers. Mr Evans agreed to link the two brothers' computers together but Wilson later began to suspect someone was hacking into his machine.
