Never heard of Boxee? It’s a neat “social media centre” letting you watch videos from PCs around the house, as well as the Internet. You can also hook up with friends, so they’ll see what films you’re watching, share music and send recommendations your way. And now, thanks to clever hackers, it’s available for Apple TV.

Scott Davilla, a developer on the aTV project, which hacks Apple TV using just a USB stick, has announced Boxee availability for Apple’s set top box.

It’s simple to install too. You just need to download the aTV Flash bootloader, use it to make a suitable USB drive, shove it into the Apple TV and wait for it to work its magic! Once it’s all installed you’ll be able to log into Boxee and stuff your eyes with all sorts of new content.
