Apple sticking to March 25th for European iPad 2 launch

Despite rumours to the contrary, many of them started on these pages, Apple says it will not be pushing back the European launch of the iPad 2.

The Second Coming of the genre-defining gadget was such a success - with initial shipments believed to be anywhere between 600,000 and one million units selling out in the first day on sale - that many pundits have predicted that Apple would be forced to delay the International launch while the USA had its fill.

The recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan has also put pressure on component supply lines leading to further rumours of delays. In fact, the Japanese launch has already been pushed back a whole month to April 25th. But Apple has told Techradar that everything is tickety-boo and that the iPad 2 will be on sale in the UK and further afield in Europe this coming Friday, despite on-line orders currently being delayed by three to five weeks in the States.
