Archos has announced the forthcoming release of a new Android tablet computer for children.

The 'Child Pad' is a seven-inch screen-toting tablet that runs the latest version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich, has a 1GHz processor and 1GB of RAM.

Archos has created a 'child-friendly' user interface for the tablet featuring coloured icons, big home screen folders and quick access to 28 pre-loaded apps, including Angry Birds, Pig Rush and Flight Frenzy. Users of the Child Pad can also access a special Kids' App Store, powered by AppsLib, that has 10,000 apps across 14 family-orientated categories, including games, entertainment, books and comics.
