WD My Cloud Will Replace Your Dropbox Account

Could a personal cloud compete with public services like Dropbox and Google Drive? That might just be the case with WD’s My Cloud line of drives, which offer huge amounts of storage for the price of a regular external hard drive. And yes, you’ll be able to access your files from anywhere.

That certainly sounds a lot better than paying every month. WD’s My Cloud is basically an external hard drive that comes in 2 TB, 3 TB, and 4 TB models. If that’s not enough, it’s also possible to hook up another external hard drive to My Drive via the USB 3.0 port, making everything on that drive available wirelessly, as well.

You’ll be able to use My Cloud as a home-based cloud storage device or a media center. My Cloud is DLNA-certified, so you can stream content to some televisions wirelessly. Otherwise, you can just access files by using the My Cloud app, which is available for iOS and Android. That app also includes integration with Dropbox, SkyDrive, and Google Drive, so you can move files from one to the other easily.
