Even the billionaire co-founder of Microsoft isn't immune to identity theft, it seems.

A simple scheme to defraud Paul Allen, one of the richest men in the world, has landed an AWOL soldier in federal custody, authorities said this week. The case raises basic questions about how safe anyone's information can really be.

The soldier living in Pittsburgh has been charged with stealing the identity of Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen and using his credit card account to make a $658.81 payment on a loan from Armed Forces Bank. He's also charged with changing the address on the billionaire's Citibank credit card to his home address in Pittsburgh, then phoning in to report the card missing to get a new one sent, according to a criminal complaint filed in US District Court in Pittsburgh.
