Hackers try to access Stock Yards accounts

Computer hackers used stolen passwords from two of Stock Yards Bank's online commercial banking customers in an apparent effort to access their accounts, the bank said yesterday.

The two customers affected have been notified and no money was missing from either account, said Greg Hoeck, an executive vice president of the Louisville bank.

Hoeck declined to say anything about how the passwords were obtained. He said the bank's 800 customers with online commercial accounts were being notified by phone yesterday that their passwords had been changed by the bank.

The changes were made late Friday in response to the incident, which took place just prior to the weekend.

The customers were given temporary passwords, Hoeck said, adding, "Generally, customers were very understanding."
