Aircraft hacking and more on #HITB2013KUL conference agenda
Imagine seizing an airplane's controls in mid-flight or faking the positions of ships out on the open sea.
Sounds like an elaborate movie plot, right? Not to those coming for the 11th Hack In The Box Security Conference in Kuala Lumpur in mid-October who'll find out about future security attacks that can lead to nightmare situations.
"We've got a couple of presentations that we're quite excited about, like the aviation security talk by Hugo Teso, which dives into the security of flight management computers that pilots use," said Hack In the Box founder and CEO, Dhillon Kannabhiran. Dhillon said it was a follow-up from Hack In The Box's Amsterdam conference in April this year, which talked about new weaknesses in aviation and avionics systems, and how airplanes could be controlled remotely. Other presentations, he said, included faking AIS (automated identification signals) used by ships.
