Today, 29 July 2014, WikiLeaks releases an unprecedented Australian censorship order concerning a multi-million dollar corruption case explicitly naming the current and past heads of state of Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam, their relatives and other senior officials. The super-injunction invokes “national security” grounds to prevent reporting about the case, by anyone, in order to “prevent damage to Australia's international relations”.

Indonesian hackers were crowned third-placed winners in "Capture The Flag" contest held last week in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The international hacking competition involved 10 teams from seven countries is an annual event hosted by Hack In The Box (HITB), reported news portal DetikINET. Team Vietnam lifted the trophies for first and second positions in the show which also saw participants from Japan, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Singapore, South Korean, and Malaysia.

Vietnam arrests man for hacking anti-virus company BKAV

A man suspected of hacking into the site of Vietnam’s top internet security firm at the weekend has been arrested, a company official said Wednesday.

Police worked with Bkav, a leading anti-virus software company, to arrest the man after the attack paralysed the company’s website for several days, Bkav director Nguyen Tu Quang said.

“Hackers are always trying to attack our site, but they are not always successful,” he said. Quang said the suspect was identified as a computer security employee at an information-technology company in Hanoi.

Website of Vietnam's top Internet security firm hacked

The website of Vietnam’s leading internet security firm, the Hanoi-based Bach Khoa Internetwork Security Company, has been attacked by hackers, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) quoted its representative as saying Monday.

Nguyen Minh Duc, director of the company’s Internet Security Department, said in the report that they have restored the security system and that since doing so, customers have basically been able to access the website www.bkav.com.vn.

175,000 Vietnamese computers get infected with viruses a day

BKAV said that 39,000 new viruses appeared in 2011, while W32.Sality.PE is believed to be the most widespread with 4.2 million computers getting infected with this kind of virus. Especially, BKAV has warned that it is not only the biggest culprit in 2011, but may also affect millions of computers in the time to come.

Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security warns of special malware

Nguyen Viet The, Head of the Professional Informatics Technology Department under the Ministry of Public Security, has said on Buu Dien, that competent agencies have found the malware specializing in stealing confidential information which can be infected through a USB or the malware, can penetrate through back door into computers, then automatically steal all sensitive documents stored in the computers to be saved at external addresses.
