Sony to sell PlayStation 4 console in China

It looks like Microsoft won't be the only company selling its next-generation gaming console in China. Sony has announced that the PlayStation 4 will soon be available in China as well.

The launch announcement shares a similar modus operandi -- a joint venture partnership with a local company to distribute the console, as well as management of the online services and software retail.

Sony continues to issue updates about its overall sales for the PlayStation 4 console. Today, the company said that worldwide, its newest home game console has sold over 7 million units since it launched on November 15th to April 6th.

Sony's press release comes about six weeks after the company announced PS4 worldwide sales had exceeded the 6 million mark. The company also announced today that over 20.5 million copies of PS4 games have been sold, either as physical copies or via download, since the launch.

As is the case every four years, FIFA's biggest football competition is about to take place. To celebrate the 2014 tournament, which will be played in Brazil, EA Sports is releasing a title to give fans a chance to virtually experience the World Cup on gaming consoles. While the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil game will be available on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, we were surprised to find out that EA Sports won't be bringing it to their next-gen revisions, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Here's what the game's Lead Producer, Mat Prior, told us:

There was little doubt that the PlayStation 4 would sell well on launch given the sheer amount of hype, but we now have proof:

Sony has revealed that it sold over one million PS4s in North America during the console's first 24 hours of availability. While that figure pales in comparison to the sales numbers we see for smartphones, it gets the company a long way toward its goal of moving five million units before the end of its fiscal year in March.

Sony to disallow resell or renting of PlayStation games after initially supporting it?

Just as the launch date of PlayStation 4 comes closer, Sony has surprised potential customers by updating their Software Usage Terms to disallow resell or renting of all PlayStation games unless authorized by them and the publisher in case it is not Sony.

Sony started off as the good guy against Microsoft's Xbox One by announcing support for game-lending and resale at the E3 2013 conference back in June. No-DRM was also a key point of Sony's PS4 presentation. However, Sony has updated the Software Usage Terms for the UK and backtracked on the claims it had made earlier.

Amazon has posted an image to their Facebook page as pointed out by our forum member Lone Wanderer Chicken, showing one of their warehouses where a huge stockpile of PlayStation 4 consoles has arrived and is ready to ship to customers.

Gamers who pre-ordered the PS4 from Amazon will be delighted to see that that the online retailer is already stocked up and ready for launch day shipments of the eagerly awaited device.

Sony has announced that Playstation 4 (PS4) preorders have sold out in the UK.

Seeming to suggest that the PS4 is outselling Microsoft's more expensive Xbox One console, Sony said on Wednesday that preorders for its upcoming games console have sold out, adding that those who order the PS4 now are unlikely to receive it on launch day.
