L33tdawg: Personally, I'd like to see wireless broadband or in fact any sort of broadband become more affordable here in Malaysia. Whether this will be more of a pipe dream than a reality will remain to be seen. I'm pretty positive that we will see at least a slight decrease in the current prices...

Portable MP3 players will shrink in size but hold more songs. Cell phones will double as handheld computers. And televisions will be bigger, sharper -- and cheaper.

Talk about a geek toy. Archos announced a portable unit will be released next month that is an MP3 player/recorder, an MPEG movie player/recorder, a still and video camera and more. The secret is an expansion port that already has modules for FireWire and a Jukebox Video Recorder that turns the unit into a portable VCR. It's the same size and weight of the Archos Jukebox with an added video display. The article has photo's of the unit and several modules.

'IT' is here.

Well the world has finally gotten the answer to the question they've all been waiting for -- "What is 'IT'?". Well it's certainly a lot less 'spiffy' than a car that runs on water, or one that can fly or a teleportation machine but it does seem like a pretty cool idea. 'IT', or 'Ginger' as it has sometimes been referred to is a two-wheeled, intuitive personal transportation device that won't fall. This super-smart, computer chip-laden machine won't topple with a driver's clumsiness. Instead, it responds to a driver's slight moves and runs on pennies worth of electricity a day.

IBM HAS KEPT its place atop the last three versions of the Top500 ranking of the world?s fastest computers. But Big Blue has been demoted on a new list from IDC that the research firm says better represents real-world performance. At the top of the new list, created by IDC in cooperation with supercomputer users, is a 3,024-processor Compaq Computer machine called Terascale based at the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center.

Here is something pretty neat, a Linux-powered portable called Bokks for those who trade movie as well as music files on the Net. Connecting directly to your broadband service via Ethernet, the Bokks hooks up to your TV set where you can view the movie files you download beyond the confines of your computer screen. The player sells for $399 and includes a 20GB hard drive. The article includes pictures of the portable as well as screenshots.

Make your own gas mask using computer parts

A funny article has been published at sorgonet.com about making your own gas mask using computer components.

L33tdawg: What I want to know is whether or not in the case of a real 'need' for a gas mask, would this device actually work as advertised? heh :) Cool idea though :)

ATi Radeon 8500 vs GeForce3 Ti500

biatch0: Since ATi first spoke of the 8500, most of the hardware community has been eagerly awaiting. Well, it is finally here, and looks set to take the speed crown from nVidia (quit convincingly might I add). Benches from OCed beta boards have been available on GamersHQ@MadOnion for awhile now, but most people would want to have a true head to head comparison of the two at default clock speeds. Here it is, David vs Goliath.

The GIDI Digital Jukebox offers 80GB of MP3

What is most interesting about the GIDI Digital Jukebox is that it comes in three distinct body designs for home use, professional use, and for car/boat use. The 80GB players run between $715 for the car unit and $795 for the rack mounted Pro unit, not bad considering the 5GB Apple iPod is listing for $400. The GIDI also offers their players in 20, 40, and 60GB versions. The article includes photos of all the body styles.
