Symantec has issued an advisory about a new OpenSSL exploit which targets Apache Web servers hosted on various Linux platforms such as RedHat, Slackware, Debian, SuSE, and Mandrake.

This also includes a number of peer-to-peer capabilities, which allow it to communicate with other clients, and participate in a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) network. To perform these activities, the exploit code listens on UDP port 2002.

The stories of users migrating from Microsoft Windows to a Free Software alternative (or attempting to do so) have usually had one large sticking point: The alternatives are much harder to learn than Microsoft Windows. I beg to differ.

L33tdawg: HITB is also looking for sponsors! Anyone interested in donating some moolah our way to help pay for things around here?

The Singapore Linux Conference 2002 is quickly running out of sponsors to approach. We have been in talks with many of the big names, but slowly most have pulled out or are not willing to give financial support. SLC is a conference we hold every year and is the big reason why we have a Linux User Group of Singapore. We need sponsors to get money for speakers.
