BitCoin forum hacked by donor

A hacker has used a zero day flaw to steal email addresses, hashed passwords and read personal messages from the bitcointalk.org forum.

Forum administrators said the attacker gained root access and was able to run arbitrary PHP code. The attacker gained access on 3 September and was not detected until the attacker injected "annoying JavaScript" into the forum pages a week later.

Bitcoin mining trojans are turning up more

MALWARE RESEARCHERS have warned about increased distribution of Bitcoin mining trojans and point out that some of them have been upgraded to also perform other illegal activities.

Bitcoin is a cash-like peer-to-peer virtual currency that people can use over the internet without the need of intermediary banks or payment processing services. This flexibility and the high degree of anonymity that Bitcoin transactions provide have made the currency very popular in recent months.

F-Secure Discover Twitter-Controlled Bitcoin Bot

Security firm F-Secure has discovered a bot that compromises Twitter accounts to help in the generation of Bitcoins.

Bitcoin is a decentralized virtual currency that was formed by programmers in 2009, and is generated by programming computers to calculate highly complex math problems. The more computing power you have, the faster you can create Bitcoins; this is why Bitcoin rigs often look like massive sculptures of connected servers.

An Analysis of Anonymity in the Bitcoin System

Anonymity is not a prominent design goal of Bitcoin. However, Bitcoin is often referred to as being anonymous. We have performed a passive analysis of anonymity in the Bitcoin system using publicly available data and tools from network analysis. The results show that the actions of many users are far from anonymous. We note that several centralized services, e.g. exchanges, mixers and wallet services, have access to even more information should they wish to piece together users' activity.
