2.4 million Americans depend on Apple for their jobs

Directly or indirectly, Apple is responsible for 2.4 million American jobs. The company says 450,000 of these are at the thousands of US companies that supply components for Apple computers, phones and tablets.
There are 9,000 such suppliers in this country, and the Mac maker says it sent them a collective $60 billion in 2018.
Calling attention to the number of Americans and US companies that produce components for iPhone, Mac, etc. helps Apple make the argument that its products aren‘t all made in China, a touchy subject during the current US/China trade war. Manufacturers in countries around the globe also produce parts for Apple devices. These are shipped to China where they are assembled, though increasingly they go to India instead.
