New Facebook Scam Targets Terms & Conditions

posted onFebruary 27, 2009

A new Facebook scam is targeting the publicity surrounding the site's proposed new terms and conditions, reports vnunet.com. The message reads:

"[Friend's name] has just reported you to Facebook for violating our Terms of Service. This is your official warning! Click here to find out why you were reported! Request Facebook look at what has happened and rule immediately."

Clicking on the link sends the same message to all of the user's friends. Sophos senior technology consultant Graham Cluley speculates that such social-engineering attacks could be the new way spammers and identity theives build up their databases.
