Break in cripples Sainsbury's website

Sainsbury's online ordering service has been taken offline yet again after thieves stole key equipment from the company's web hosting provider, Cable & Wireless.

The online shopping store was out of action for much of yesterday, although no customer deliveries were affected this time round.

"As a result of a technical problem at Cable & Wireless customers were unable to gain access to our groceries website on Thursday until early afternoon," said a Sainsbury's spokeswoman. Cable & Wireless confirmed that a number of clients had been affected by the break in at the company's network centre in Watford.
