CodeWeavers’ new software offering enables Linux users to run most Microsoft Office XP components on Linux, thus giving an extra edge to this OS.

The CrossOver Office Version 2.0, allows applications like Microsoft Office XP, Adobe Photoshop 7, and Microsoft Access without the need for a Windows emulator or OS license. Outlook XP is not supported in CrossOver Office Version 2.0, but will be supported in next version of CrossOver Office.

In addition, the new release will accommodate double-byte languages, allowing Japanese, Chinese, and Korean versions of Windows applications to operate under CrossOver Office. CrossOver Office, introduced in 2002, has become a highly popular solution for individuals and organizations who wish to run key Windows applications on in the Linux environment.

CrossOver Office also supports Lotus Notes; Intuit"s Quicken; Microsoft Outlook, Visio, and Internet Explorer. "With Version 2.0 of CrossOver Office, CodeWeavers is expanding its support for today"s most in-demand professional applications," said Jeremy White, CodeWeavers founder and CEO.

Cal Erickson, an Independent Professional Photographer, is only too elated to run Photoshop on Linux.
