War over Wargames.com
In the 1983 movie, War Games, Matthew Broderick played a kid who hacked into a government computer and played ?war games? with a scary Russian military force, nearly setting in motion World War III. War Games quickly became a favorite movie for burgeoning nerds everywhere, so perhaps it?s not surprising that a man who went on to become an internet provocateur ? Rogers Cadenhead ? was one of many children who saw the movie during its theatrical run.
Now Mr. Cadenhead ? book author and website publisher - is in a dispute with War Games maker MGM over a domain name he registered in 1998 on the off chance that some day he might want to start a game distribution company ? www.wargames.com. ?I never thought of the connection to the movie,? said Mr. Cadenhead.
