A View from Main Street: Mac versus PC? It's no contest
"My email is down. I'll drop it by later." Those were the words a local woman told me recently about an item she wanted to get into our newspaper. How long is "later" in today's world of I-need-it-now? Could be too late.
It's so common to hear a PC user say, "My computer's in the shop." Over the past year or so that's happened several times to my parents, who are the lone PC holdouts in my family. The rest of us have gone to the dark side of the computer world - the Mac. Recently one of my parents clicked on a button to update their computer. Hello blue screen of death. Goodbye friendly emails to family members for the next week or so.
While Apple Computer hasn't said a computer virus is impossible on the Mac OS, I certainly haven't heard of anyone getting one. A friend of mine recently took her PC to a computer tech after it stopped working. The tech said it had several viruses on it. But a Mac generally isn't susceptible.
