Recently Sony introduced a ridiculous copy-protection into CD's. This actual protection will make you PC crash the minute you try to play a track from the CD. Well, good news. Take a felt-pen make note of the following.

The protection works by placing a data track with corrupt data as last track on a CD. An Audio CD player will simply ignore this track and will start playing but a CD-ROM player scans the entire CD first which will stumble into the corrupt track and then will refuse to play the CD.

The German site CHIP Online has the most simple yet effective way of disabling this protection. The data track is easily spotted as it is (look at image) separated from the rest of the tracks. When you tape that 'ring' you spot or simple take a black marker/felt-stift the protection is rendered useless and ready for your PC
