Techniques to Enhance Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) Performance

This paper first details two challenges that a WLAN chipset must overcome in order to accomplish this goal: signal attenuation caused by reflectors (walls and objects) and unpredictable multi-path effects in a given environment. Their solutions will then be explained. In addition, this paper will also discuss a method to address poor throughput and the high power consumption of WLAN solutions. An adaptive transmit power control feature is needed and will be explained.
