Modding the Athlon XP into an MP

From Arstechnica: The folks at HardwareZone.com seem to have figured out how to restore SMP capabilities to Athlon XP processors where it was disabled. Athlon XPs with SMP disabled have an L5 bridge cut while MP processors and older XP processors that worked in multiprocessor configurations have that connection closed. Sealing up the L5 bridge with conductive paint allows the XPs to be recognized in a dual processor configuration. Durons also have the L5 bridge closed.

Time will tell if the modded XPs are as functionally stable as MPs in SMP configurations, but this mod should be easy enough for anyone to do. Theoretically, people can now convert a multiplier-locked XP with SMP disabled to a multiplier-unlocked XP with SMP enabled.
