Microsoft thinks like hackers
Reports from TechEd, Microsoft's geek fest say that much of what's going on is around security. Apprently managfing security is a long and painstaking process but one that leads to better quality. Makes you feel so much better doesn't it?
An eWeek report from TechEd Orlando provides a deep dive into the murky world of Microsoft Security Response Centre (MSRC). You'll be relieved to hear that Microsoft takes vulnerability threats very seriously and deploys a small army of people that leaves no stone unturned in its efforts to make sure your desktop is safe. Apparenlty the process is lenghty and can lead to delays. As if we needed a reminder.
Nuggets (and our thoughts) from Stephen Toulouse, Microsoft's MSRC program manager are:
"We're on all the [security mailing] lists, just like you are, and we investigate everything, even if it's a post about a simple weird behavior in a product."
Blimey, that must be a 24x7 job.
"Once we determine it's a real security issue, it goes into the triage phase."
Yeah, we get sick of Windows too.
