London switch over to digital TV may leave 1 million TVs blank
The London region's impending switch to all-digital TV will leave more than one million household sets blank, according to the body leading the process.
Digital UK said over one in ten households still has a television that receives analogue signal, despite the fact that the switchover is due to get underway next Wednesday (April 4th 2012).
On that date, the analogue version of BBC Two will be deactivated, followed a fortnight later by the remaining terrestrial channels - BBC One, ITV1, Channel 4 and Channel 5. Research agency GfK NOP found that 96 per cent of people in the capital have digital TV on their primary set, or already have Freeview equipment ready for when the switchover takes place.
