Having created yourself a super-safe alpha-numeric password that few people could hack you may be confident. What do you then do if you realise you’ve forgot Windows password and locked yourself out?

Creating a complex and random password that is hard to guess at and is not based on your family pet or your date of birth is what every computer user is encouraged to do. While FredWilma1 is a lot easier to remember than random numbers and letters in a mix of upper and lower case, it isn’t as effective at keeping your machine safe.

There is always the chance however that having created a James Bond expert level password that you might forget it. If you’ve forgot Windows password then you need to find a way to regain access and quickly as being locked out is inconvenient at best and may be costly if you have valuable work information inside.

These three options enable you to enjoy the security benefits of that complex password while enabling you to get back into your Windows machine if you forget it. Which you would choose depends on your preference.

1.     Shareware
This isn’t necessarily the most popular option however it is free so is worth a mention. As many will know Shareware is a type of programme that may be downloaded from various sources across the internet. They have limited functionality and often a time or number of uses restriction. It is basically a good way to try before you buy. There are a number of shareware programmes that will enable you to reset your Windows password. Do be careful of where you source the software from and look out for Adware.

2.     Windows Password Remover
Again there are a few decent software options here available on the market. The idea is that you buy the programme in advance and create a PC or laptop specific password reset disk for later use. Should that forgot Windows password become a problem the reset disk may be used to find and remove the password, giving you the option to set a new one.

3.     Administrator Account
A simple way to regain access is to set up an admin account (before the password is lost) and work off a guest login or similar. Your admin login will override the guest one and you will be in a position to reset details with the master account. This does of course only work if you set up in advance and don’t forget the admin account too.

The forgot Windows password will cause delay and inconvenience yet fortunately a system wipe is not necessary if you have a back-up plan such as these in place.
