Gentoo founder hired by Microsoft
Daniel Robbins, the founder of Linux distributor Gentoo, is packing his bags and heading to Redmond, where he'll work for Microsoft.
Robbins, who was also Gentoo's chief architect, will help "Microsoft to understand Open Source and community-based projects," according to a statement of the Gentoo site.
Although Microsoft's software competes head-to-head with Linux and other open-source products, the software giant has made some moves to warm up to the development model. For example, through its shared-source initiative, Microsoft has released some developer tools under open-source licenses.
