Games Industry Syndicate of the Web?

I-Introduction-

In this paper I'll discuss the gamez industry and show you how it works from
the suppliers work all the way to the packers

II-The groups-

All this work is made by what we call the groups. I'm sure you already know
razor 1911 , Paradigm , echelon ... As they provide free gamez they are loved
by kiddyz and hated by FBI. In those groups there is a law of silence that no one says anything and everybody has his own job (we'll discuss the jobs
later).Most of the time you can find them on IRC and they give info about themselves
through games released in a file called *.nfo. They know each other and most
of the time respect each others group but when a group steals the work of an other it's pretty much bad news all round. They have headquarters all over the world in order to work quickly. For
example a game is supplied to paradigm European headquarters may be cracked
by a member of the paradigm asia headquarter if others are too busy. Last thing,every
group does not earn anything.

III-The supplier-

Essential job, the supplier has to supply gamez to the team. Most of the time
he's a japan videogame seller or an important person working for playstation, SEGA etc... So this man has to send the game using a high connection to the
nearest groups headquarters. So now the team has a really
wanted game and has to crack it.

IV-The crackers-

These are the brains of the team... they receive a protected software and after
some work on it they come up with a crack software. They really enjoy their work
because every game is a challenge for them. Needless to say, they spend a fair number of hours on research.

V-The ripper-

So now you know that the game has been received and cracked but the group can't
release it like that since it's enormous! So the job of the ripper is to cut what's
not needed in the game. For example he'll cut all the movies the music etc...
he'll make addons too so if you want the music or else you can download them
later.

VI-The packer-

He'll pack (compress) the game using compression software like rar, ace, or
winzip. This is a relatively easy job and pretty boring. You need to compress the game
in Rar format and then com compress into ZIP adding the *.nfo of your group
and othe stuff you want in every zip. The compression lengh is fixed by the groups
for PC it's 2.78mo for dreamcast gamez it's 20mo.

VII-The releaser-

Ok so now the game is fully cracked and compressed for the internet and is sent to
the releaser. He knows a lot of T3-FTP sites over the world and has account in them. With
his high connection he'll upload the game in what we can call a "highway"
for example from tokyo to los angeles and as soon as the game is uploaded thousand
of people will download the files and upload them to their private FTP so the game will be
quickly available for everybody.

VIII-Good job-

The game was fully distributed now we can study the consequences.

IX-Consequences-

-Good ones-

The only good consequence of this business is that we can play games for nothing
and that the fight opposing crackers and security create work -> consommation
-> increase the economy of a country.

-Bad ones-

Economically speaking there is another important point. Gamez industrie kill
game industries and this is a serious problem because with less money you make
low quality games. Unfortunately some intelligent guys sell those downloaded
gamez to other kiddyz and much of the time for nothing more than $6. What they have to
understand is that releasing a game is something fabulous it's like making
one. It represents a lot of work so selling a game is like shitting on this work! Respect
is everything

X-Solution-

The solution is simple i'm not the first one to tell it. So if you are into
gamez download and play the games do only that and if there is a game you like
BUY IT! I buy every fifa soccer game cause i love those games - so do this too! If you are
selling gamez please do not sell them at $6 but at $30. Do not sell in quantity. Selling
gamez is not a crime if it's for buying blank cds or to repair your cd-rom but
when you sell only for money something's wrong. Just imagine those people in
the street giving free perfume will you take one and sell it in front of him
? Most likely not - so RESPECT GAMEZ.
