Duron vs. T-Bird: value and performance?

Ripped this straight off Ars
The Tech Report has offered up a head-to-head comparison of the AMD T-Bird contra Duron. Both of these CPUs are
hard hitters, but with the Duron running less than a yearly subscription to the Wall Street Journal, the question of
price/value demands attention.

It doesn't get much easier to call than this. If you're a performance-oriented user who needs a processor
that can do over 1GHz guaranteed, and if you don't mind paying for it, go with a T-Bird. The T-Bird is
faster than the Duron on a clock-for-clock basis, and in many cases the advantage remains even if we
spot the Duron 100MHz. That said, the T-Bird is also roughly 50% more expensive than the Duron.

You've gotta love competition. The author gives you a load of benchmarks to pour over, and while I think he sometimes
downplays the power of the T-Bird, it's easy to see that this scenario isn't much different than the old Celeron/PII
competition.
