Don't Fear the GPS Revolution
If there's a killer app lurking in today's tech market, it's those new chipsets that will bring GPS to all manner of future devices and applications. This is the hottest thing since Internet. Sure every techie has a GPS device in his car and likes to fool around with the location help on his phone, but that's only the beginning of the possibilities for this technology.
The app I'm most looking forward to is the cataloging of GPS data on the pictures I take. Previously I had thought that it would be little more than a lame gimmick, but over the years, I've been unable to find a lot of the photos in my collections. Such a feature would help narrow them down by location. I've also often found myself showing a picture to someone, only to realize that I don't know for sure where it was taken. GPS cataloging would have saved the day.
