Court now says Megaupload seizure is "null and void"
In another twist to the saga that has become the Megaupload case, a New Zealand High Court judge has since ruled that the court order used to seize Kim Dotcom's assets is null and void due to the NZ police using the wrong "type" of legal document when conducting the raids on Dotcom's assets.
Police commissioner Peter Marshall apparently tried to correct the error by applying for the correct order after the raids were completed and retrospectively adding the items already seized. Although the correct order was eventually granted, albeit on a temporary basis, the judge has said she will soon rule on whether the “procedural error” will result in Dotcom having his property returned. A hearing to decide if the assets will be returned will take place next week.
