Bricked PSP? Restore it with the Pandora Battery

If you have bricked your PSP through experiments with homebrew, there is a way to restore it to its original, working state. With a Pandora Battery and magic memory stick, you can fix most problems by re-flashing the firmware of your PSP in service mode. The Pandora method of unbricking and unlocking PSPs was discovered when hackers realized that this was the same technique used by Sony technicians to access broken or malfunctioning PSPs. They found a way to reverse-engineer the battery, and voila, Pandora's box was opened.

Additionally, the Pandora’s battery allows users to flash a normal PSP with custom firmware. Custom firmware enables owners to run their own applications, games and even emulators on the PSP. For the moment, this technique only works with older PSP 1000 “phat” models and some versions of the PSP slim. Hopefully the battery makers will find a way to unlock the newer PSP 3000 “Brite” soon.
