It looks as if the compatibility issue between the today’s (and older) mainboards with the new 0.13micron Athlon XP (Thoroughbred) processors has been solved: 0.13micron Athlon XP CPUs should work in all mainboards supporting their 0.18micron brothers on Palomino core. We can make this conclusion judging by the info from the most mainboard manufacturers and by the fact that 0.13micron Athlon XP will have almost no architectural differences from its predecessor. Moreover, the Vcore of Athlon XP (Thoroughbred) is so close to that of Athlon XP (Palomino) (see this news story) that no problems should arise on any mainboard, as the majority of Socket A boards provide 1.5V, not to mention 1.6V.
